Storyline:
At the age of 21, Tim Lake (Domhnall Gleeson) learns a remarkable family secret: the men in his family can travel through time. After an awkward New Year’s Eve, his father (Bill Nighy) explains that while Tim can’t change history, he can revisit moments in his own life to alter outcomes. Naturally, Tim decides to use this gift to improve his love life.
Leaving the Cornwall coast for London to train as a lawyer, Tim meets Mary (Rachel McAdams), a warm but insecure woman he quickly falls for. However, a careless use of time travel erases their first meeting entirely. Determined, Tim repeatedly rewinds time, navigating chance and coincidence until he finally wins Mary’s heart.
As his life unfolds, Tim uses his ability to perfect romantic moments, rescue disastrous social situations, help friends in need, and support his growing family—including racing against time to get his pregnant wife to the hospital. Yet he soon discovers that even with extraordinary power, he cannot prevent life’s inevitable losses and hardships.
Ultimately, Tim learns that time travel has its limits—and that the true value of life lies not in changing the past, but in fully appreciating each moment as it happens.
